Born in October 1919, native of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

Of college schooling, granted honorary doctor's degree of business administration by University of Macao, the then East Asia University of Macao.

Opened business in Hong Kong in 1938; moved to Macao in 1941 to continue his business.

Became chairman of the Macao Chinese Chamber of Commerce in 1948.

Expanded his business operation on the Chinese mainland, contributed to closer economic and trade cooperation between Macao and the mainland, and established a number of enterprises in Guangdong, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia in 1980s and 1990s.

Vice chairman of the Committee for Drafting of the Basic Law for the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in 1988.

Member of the 5th CPPCC National Committee; member of the Standing Committee of the 6th CPPCC National Committee; vice chairman of the 8th CPPCC National Committee and the 9th CPPCC National Committee.

Deputy to the 6th and 7th National People's Congress, and member of the NPC Standing Committee.
