First Day of China Open Badminton

Chinese badminton player Hu Yun has beaten Anders Boesen of Denmark to enter the second round of the men's singles of China Open 2004 in Guangzhou.

Hu Yun lost the first set quickly at 8-15, but he roared back at 15-7, 15-3 in the last two sets to beat the ninth seeded player of the tournament.

The Hubei native says he won the game because he was not under pressure.

"He (Anders Boesen) is a veteran player so maybe he is too conservative but I am a young player and I have nothing to lose. So I can play my best regardless of the result."

Wang Yihan and Wanglin of China have won the qualifying games to enter the first round of women's singles.

The China Open 2004 is the highest level tournament of the International Badminton Federation, featuring over 160 players from thirteen countries and regions worldwide.
