China, DPRK Active on Progress of Six-Party Talks

China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) promised on Monday their readiness to make joint efforts with all parties concerned to work for progress at the second round of Beijing six-way talks and to carry forward the process of the talks.

The consensus was reached at a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and DPRK Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan in Beijing Monday.

The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations and the nuclear issue, among others.

Kim arrived in Beijing last Saturday at the invitation of Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During his stay in Beijing, Kim held working talks with Wang on issues concerning the second round of six-way talks and met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo.

The second round of six-way talks is scheduled for Feb. 25 in Beijing. The parties to attend the talks include China, DPRK, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States.
