The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Thursday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland.

From 10:00 am June 11 to 10:00 am June 12, the Chinese mainland reported no new diagnosed SARS case, 67 patients recovered and 1 death. Beijing reported 55 patients recovered and 1 death. Patients recovered also included 6 from Shanxi, 2 each from Tianjin and Hebei, and 1 each from Inner Mongolia and Shanghai.

From 10:00 am June 11 to 10:00 am June 12, Guangdong reported 1 new suspected SARS case.

From 10:00 am June 11 to 10:00 am June 12, the Chinese mainland also reported 108 misdiagnosed suspected cases, of which 102 were from Beijing, 2 from Guangdong, and 1 each from Tianjin, Shanxi, Anhui and Henan. By 10:00 am June 12, the Chinese mainland had a total of 220 suspected cases.

From 10:00 am May 24 to 10:00 am June 12, the Chinese mainland reported a total of 89 diagnosed SARS cases (including 14 new diagnosed cases and 75 patients who used to be suspected cases).

Of these figures,

Beijing reported 12 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 58 suspected cases as SARS patients

Shanxi reported 2 new diagnosed cases and confirmed 3 suspected cases as SARS patients

Hebei reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 5 suspected cases as SARS patients

Inner Mongolia reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 6 suspected cases as SARS patients

Liaoning reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 2 suspected cases as SARS patients

Sichuan reported no new diagnosed case but confirmed 1 suspected case as SARS patient

Now 521 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals.

According to the statistics standard of WHO, by 10:00 am June 12, 6 provinces on the Chinese mainland had reported SARS cases. Shanxi and Inner Mongolia had reported no new diagnosed case for more than 15 days; Hebei had reported no new diagnosed case for more than 10 days; Liaoning had reported no new diagnosed case for 9 days, and Sichuan had reported no new diagnosed case for 6 days.
