Filming China's movers and shakers
Adjust font size:

The Chinese know far more about America than Americans know about China and a Hong Kong film company wants to change that before the Olympics by presenting icons of China.

With the Olympic Games fast appproaching in August, international audiences are hungry for information about "New China" - what makes it tick, who makes it tick and who will make it tick.

The made-to-order film vignette and profile series, "Boy Meets China," introduces some of the country's most colorful, influential and potentially influential people: sports figures, superstars in the music, movie and fashion scenes, young entrepreneurs and artists whose works sell for millions in the Western world.

The series - its footage at this point - is important "because the Chinese know far more about America than Americans know about China," explains Eames Yates Jr, MTV personality and host of the series.

The 22-year-old New Yorker is the "Boy" who visits China for the first time.

"It's a one-way street. I feel it is my job to turn it into an open highway that will allow for my peers in the States to get a much better understanding of the real China and the beautiful stories that have yet to be told," says Yates.
