China's meteorological authority forecast Tuesday snow to fall in parts of south China over the next three days as the cold front moves southeastward.

South parts of Tibetan Autonomous Region, central and eastern areas of southwest China and most areas south of the Yangtze River will see light to moderate snow or sleet, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast in a statement on its website.

Parts of Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces will see rain, the statement said.

Rain or snow will not fall in drought-hit regions in north China over the next few days, it said.

The latest two rounds of snowfall in north China are of limited help in alleviating drought, experts with the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) said.

As of Sunday, the drought had affected 108.24 million mu (7.22 million hectares) of wheat crops in eight provinces of Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi and Gansu, of which, about 23.9 million mu were severely affected, according the MOA.
