No obvious change has been found on the levels of radioactive material in the environment and food samples in the Chinese mainland, compared with the situation of the previous day, according to China's National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Committee Monday.

Sample survey shows no abnormality in drinking water, says a daily statement issued by the committee.

No protective measures need to be taken against contamination from these materials, says the statement.

As of 8:56 a.m. Monday Beijing Time, no obvious changes have been observed on the situation and readings at the on-site radiation monitoring posts at the quake-damaged Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan. No remarkable changes have been detected on radiation levels in its surrounding areas, says the daily statement, quoting a latest report of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Rains from last Friday had caused some rise in the daily amount of radiation dropped from the air to the ground in Japan, the statement said.
