At least 45 whales have died after stranding themselves on the shore at Tuticorin in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, BBC reported yesterday. Local officials said about 50 short-nosed pilot whales were stranded on the beach, while some local media put the number at more than 100, according to AFP reports.
