The outcome of the climate change conference in Durban is not yet out though it was widely expected end of business Friday.

A source close to negations by 21:20 p.m. South African time told Xinhua that negotiators are still locked in talks.

"Officials and ministers are still discussing we all don't have information as to when they will come out. We are waiting as all of you," a spokesperson to a senior member in the negotiations told Xinhua.

Speaking at the afternoon press briefing where media expected the announcement of the negations results, COP17 President Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said: "We are counting down the hours before the conference comes to an end we know the world out there is waiting with anticipation for the outcomes of this Conference."

Negotiators are still locking horns on fundamental issues including the issue of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol and the operationalization of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) .

Although it is not yet clear how long the negotiations will take and when Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will announce the outcome media is waiting in high anticipation here. Rumors circulating indicate that the hot talks might continue over night and results might be announced early morning or midday Saturday.

"With the very limited time at our disposal, work continued through Thursday night and will continue throughout the course of today to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcome," COP17 president said during her last briefing.
