The clouds will start to part and it will become clear above Tian'anmen Square from 9 a.m. to midday on October 1, as announced by meteorological authorities on Monday. Tian'anmen Square is where the People's Republic of China will hold its 60th National Day celebrations this Thursday.

The meteorological department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) said there will be northerly winds with a visibility of 6-meters that day. The weather will not affect the celebrations, which include a military parade and mass pageant.

Li Fulin, director of the meteorology and hydrology center under the General Staff of the PLA, said the conclusion was drawn after several rounds of consultations. The PLA meteorological department has faith in the result.

The department has made weather forecasts for many significant events, such as for launches of Shenzhou spaceships and satellites, as well as several rehearsals of the National Day celebration. The reports have been 100 percent accurate, Li said.

The forecast also shows that there will be clouds and light rain from the night of September 30 until about 8 a.m. on October 1.
