Zambian Gov't Spokesperson Hails President Hu's Visit
Adjust font size:

Zambian Chief Government Spokesperson Vernon Mwaanga described Monday the visit to his country by Chinese President Hu Jintao as a great success.

Mwaanga, who is also information minister, said the projects agreed with the Chinese government during Hu's visit will help boost the economy of his country.

He was speaking to journalists at Lusaka International Airport, where Hu left for Namibia, the fifth stop in his eight-Africa nation tour.

President Hu announced during his visit a package of measures to boost fully-fledged cooperation with Zambia. The measures include canceling debts to China in the form of interest-free government loans that matured by the end of 2005 and opening up the Chinese market by increasing items of zero-tariff Zambian exports to China from 190 to 442.
