EU Adheres to One-China Policy: Borrell
Adjust font size:

Visiting President of the European Parliament Josep Borrell Fontelles reiterated the European Union (EU)'s adherence to the one-China policy in Beijing Wednesday.

Borrell, who is here on an official goodwill visit from July 8-15, made the remarks in a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.

Borrell expressed appreciation over China's rapid economic growth and its increasingly important role in international affairs. He said the EU will continue to stick to the one-China policy.

The two sides agreed to join hands to deepen China-EU friendly ties of mutually-beneficial cooperation. They also conferred on international and regional issues of common concern.

Borrell is making the visit as guest of Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.
