Adjust font size:

China's newly-appointed ambassador in charge of affairs relating to the Korean Peninsula Yang Houlan will attend the third meeting of the six-party talks for peace and security in Northeast Asia in Moscow next week.

"We will closely cooperate with other relevant parties, and help to achieve positive results at the meeting," said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu at a regular press briefing?in Beijing?on Thursday.

The meeting, held in Moscow from Feb. 19 to 20, will focus on the framework for broad six-party talks in which the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed in 2005 to abandon its nuclear programs, according to reports.

The six-party talks, involving China, the DPRK, the US, Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan, have been focusing on the settlement of nuclear issues on the Korean peninsula since August 2003.
