Wen's attendance at China-EU summit to show sincerity
Adjust font size:

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will attend the upcoming China-European Union summit. This fully shows China's interest in the development of bilateral ties, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.

"We expect the meeting will further enhance mutual trust, deepen reciprocal cooperation and boost the China-EU ties," spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing in Beijing.

The 11th China-EU summit, slated for Wednesday in Czech's capital Prague, was postponed from December due to a meeting between the Dalai Lama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Poland while France was holding the rotating EU presidency.

The annual summit serves as the highest political consultative mechanism between China and the EU, which announced during Wen's Europe tour this February a willingness to hold the postponed summit.

During this meeting, Chinese and EU leaders will exchange views in depth on bilateral ties and major international and regional issues of common concern, Ma said, noting a series of cooperation documents will be inked.

"We expect to work along with the EU, take this opportunity and jointly push forward the development of the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership," Ma said.
