Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani would summon a conference of top commanders later on Thursday to review the situation emerging after the death of Osama bin Laden in a U.S. forces operation, local media reported.

The Corps Commanders' conference will discuss the consequences of killing of the al-Qaida leader, in the northwestern city of Abbottabad, local Urdu newspaper Express said.

The participants of the Corps commanders' conference would be briefed about the situation arisen after the killing of Osama bin Laden. The Corps commanders would likely to take some important decisions, according to the report.

The army is likely to issue a statement at the end of the conference, that would be the first army's reaction over the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Pakistan said that the U.S. has conducted an unauthorized operation without informing the country.

According to defense sources, the Army Chief has already consulted the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha and other Corps commanders and has apprised his U.S. counterpart, Admiral Mike Mullen of his reservation for not taking him into confidence regarding Abbottabad operation, reports said.

The Army Chief had also postponed his Brussels tour.
