S Korean, DPRK nuclear envoys to meet
Adjust font size:

Top nuclear negotiators of South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will hold a one-on-one meeting in Beijing to discuss ways over the nuclear issues, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The meeting between Kim Sook of South Korea and Kim Kye-gwan of the DPRK will be held on Wednesday, one day before Thursday's resumption of the six-party talks on the nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula after a nine-month suspension.

The two sides will discuss how to set up an effective verification regime in their second meeting in the Chinese capital since May, Yonhap quoted unnamed diplomatic sources as saying.

Kim Sook, who arrived in Beijing Tuesday afternoon, met with U. S. chief negotiator Christopher Hill later in the day. Hill, who had a meeting with DPRK chief negotiator earlier on Tuesday, briefed Kim on the DPRK's position and discussed with him how to cooperate on the six-party talks, Yonhap said.
