Folk artist shows his 'Jinhuidui' artwork
Adjust font size:

The photo taken on Jan. 12, 2011 shows a work of 'Jinhuidui' by folk artist Geng Xuezhi in Zibo, east China's Shandong Province. 'Jinhuidui', literally meaning a pile of old things from ash, is a branch of traditional Chinese painting, originating from Yuan Dynasty. A frame is set before-hand in creating a 'Jinhuidui' painting. Then different old things, such as a piece of worn-out paper, a wrinkled picture, or a yellow newspaper, are painted in the frame. As the creation of 'Jinhuidui' works requires great skills and a long time, this art is in the danger of being lost.
