Adjust font size:

Myanmar female rower Shwe Zin Latt pledged on Friday to try her utmost to score the first ever Olympic medal for her country in the rowing event at the Beijing Olympic Games.

"I have been trying very hard since the 24th Southeast Games in December 2007 for getting the first ever Olympic medal for the country," Shwe Zin Latt told Xinhua in an interview.

"I believe that I can get an Olympic medal in rowing with my efforts and strong competing morale," she stressed. "If I get a medal it will be a great honor for the country, for the Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation (MRCF) and for myself."

"I am very excited to compete for the first time in the Olympic Games and I will get many experiences by competing with world-class rowers from different countries and regions," she added.

Shwe Zin Latt, 23, finished fifth in the women's singles sculls event in the Olympic continental qualification Regatta to qualify for Beijing.
