Libyan taekwondo player Ezedin Tlish said he will fight for a medal at Beijing Olympics after finishing a two-hour training session on Thursday.

It's the third time for the African champion to have training in the Capital Institute of Physical Education, which has four separated mats for taekwondo training.

"It's good here," said the 26-year-old player, who is the only taekwondo player from Libya.

The head coach Gerwash Ibrahim said Tlish is the best taekwondo player in Libya.

"I think we have a chance (to get a medal)," he said.

Taekwondo is one of the most popular sports in Libya and a lot of people have been practising it, the coach said.

Taekwondo teams began their training sessions in the institute from Monday, according to Meng Li, taekwondo training site supervisor. Besides Tlish, athletes from Cuba and Honduras also did training Thursday.

The Olympic taekwondo competitions will began on August 20 in the University of Science and Technology of Beijing.
