China had a scoreless draw with Olympian debutant New Zealand in the first half of a group match of the men's Olympic soccer tournament on Thursday.
Host China threatened to open the scoring in the 4th minute, when striker Han Peng's header hit the crossbar and nearly became China's first goal in their Olympic history.
