China picked up their first point by drawing with New Zealand 2-2 in the Olympic men's hockey tournament on Sunday.

Having lost three games, China earned the first point by fighting a hard duel with New Zealand who had two wins and one loss.

Thanks to Captain Song Yi who converted two penalty corners in the 3rd and the 17th minute, China took a 2-0 lead.

Simon Child scored a field goal in the 34th minute for New Zealand after a goal was ruled void. Shea McAleese scored the equaliser in the 56th minute.

New Zealand had more possessions in the match and made a total of 14 attempts, but were saved by Chinese goalie Su Rifeng.

China next play Belgium and New Zealand take on Germany in the last round of pool stage on Tuesday.
