Beijing Olympics documentary set for release
Adjust font size:

It will premiere as the opening film at the Shanghai International Film Festival, which begins June 14, and also open the Beijing International Sports Film Festival.

The documentary follows the stories of multiple Chinese citizens who are affected by the Games over a seven year span: a family that is forced to relocate, three young gymnasts competing for the chance to represent China, track star Liu Xiang's training and the preparations of a Beijing SWAT team.

The film also guides viewers through the architectural development of the Bird's Nest and other Olympic arenas.

The film embodies the whole nation's participation in this great event, Gu said.

Acclaimed Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi composed music for the film. He delivered the score to producers only eight days after watching it.

The studio plans to release the film internationally, although Gao said precise dates are unknown. The movie included English and Chinese subtitles.

They were approached at an international film festival by Warner Brothers Studios, who showed interest in distributing the documentary.

According to the press release, "This film is not only made for the Chinese but is a gift from the Chinese people to people all over the world."
