China wins int'l support against politicizing Olympics
Adjust font size:

The DPRK (The Democratic People's Republic of Korea)'s newspaper Minju Choson said Tuesday that China's efforts to reject politicizing the Olympics and its efforts to hold a successful Olympic Games "have won support from the international community."

The article said there used to be a tendency in the international community of trying to politicize the Beijing Olympics. Some Western leaders declared they might not attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, relating the ceremony with the so-called Tibet issue of China, in a bid to put pressure on the Chinese government with some political issues through the occasion of the Olympics.

China has expressed firm rejection to the tendency, said the article. Recently, some Western leaders officially declared they will attend the Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony, and this shows that any attempt of using the Olympics to intervene in China's internal affairs and to increase pressure to China is bound to fail, said the article.
