Adjust font size:

Chinese archers won the majority of medals at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, beating the Republic of Korea, which has for long been considered the best in the world.

Among the Chinese medalists, Cheng Changjie and the Women's team won gold medals, while Fu Hongzhi, Gao Fangxai, and the Men's team claimed silver medals and Chen Yegang and Xiao Yanhong won bronze.

Korea could only manage three medals, with Lee Hwa-sook and the Men's Team winning a gold medal each and the Women's Team winning a silver medal.

Here's a closer look at how the archery competition at the Beijing Games unfolded.

Men's Individual Recurve - Standing

Mongolia's Baatarjav Dambadondog made history by becoming the first person from Mongolia to win a medal at the Paralympic Games.

Dambadondog claimed the gold medal after beating Fabrice Meunier of France, 94-90. The Frenchmen took home the silver medal.

To the delight of most spectators, China's Chen Yegang won the bronze medal, beating top seed Mario Esposito of Italy 98-93.

Men's Individual Compound - W1

Czech Republic's David Drahoninsky won the gold medal in the Men's Individual Compound - W1 category, outplaying the defending Paralympic Games champion John Cavanagh of Great Britain, 108-103.

Cavanagh who crushed all opposition enroute to the final failed to put on his best performance. The Englishman took home the silver medal.

Jeff Fabry of United States won the bronze medal after beating Osmo Kinnunen of Finland, 111-101.

Men's Individual Recurve - W1/W2

China's Cheng Changjie added to his country's medal tally by winning the gold medal in the Men's Individual Recurve- W1/W2 category. Cheng beat Marco Vitale, 108-104, in a closely fought contest.
