Formula 1 has announced that the Chinese Grand Prix will continue to feature on its calendar until 2025, the sport announced in a statement on Saturday.

Owing to China's epidemic prevention and control measures, the Chinese Grand Prix has not been staged since 2019 and will remain off the calendar next year, with the country's current quarantine requirements for international arrivals making it impractical to stage the race.

"This is great news for all of our fans in China," said F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali of the new deal. "While we are all disappointed we could not include China on the 2022 calendar due to ongoing pandemic conditions, China will be restored to the calendar as soon as conditions allow and we look forward to being back with the fans as soon as we can."

Though China will have no Grand Prix in 2022, the country may yet be represented on the F1 grid for the first time, with current Formula 2 driver Zhou Guanyu hotly tipped to land the second seat at Alfa Romeo alongside Valtteri Bottas.
