The table tennis events at the 31st FISU World University Games came to a thrilling end on Aug. 5, as Zhou Kai clinched the men's singles gold medal. China dominated the competition, securing a total of seven gold medals.

Mirroring their performance in the previous edition of the World University Games in Naples, Team China once again demonstrated their prowess in table tennis by winning all seven events: men's team, women's team, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

China's medal haul also included three silver and three bronze medals, solidifying their place at the top of the standings. Japan followed with three silver and three bronze medals, securing the second spot, while Chinese Taipei finished third with one silver and two bronze medals.

Reflecting on his triumphant win, Zhou Kai said, "This is my first time participating in the World University Games, and competing on my home turf has filled me with immense excitement and thrill. This championship boosts my confidence for future matches and my professional journey. I aspire to surpass myself and achieve greater heights in upcoming competitions."

Xu Yingbin, who took the silver medal in the men's singles event, remained optimistic despite the defeat. He commented, "The World University Games have been a valuable experience for me, and I gave it my all. While there were some aspects that I could have handled better, I hope to refine those details in the future."
