Reigning world champion Yargelis Savigne from Cuba retained her title in women's triple jump on Monday night at Berlin athletics world championships.

Savigne, 24, scored 14.95m leap to pocket her second gold in world championships after the first one in Japan two years ago when she finished with 15.28 meters.

Savigne's teammate Mabel Gay booked the silver with her seasonal best leap of 14.61m while Russian jumper Anna Pyatykh seized the bronze with 14.58m.

Savigne's performance was shy of 0.35 meter compared with last world championships, but she said winning gold is all the more vital.

"The 15 meters didn't matter today, only victory," she said.

"At the beginning, I lacked coordination and was really nervous, but I told myself to stay focused on the result," she added.
