Top 10 most influential movies in China

Hong Kong director Teddy Chan's "Bodyguards and Assassins" was one of the most anticipated Chinese movies of 2009. The movie was blessed with a very strong cast that included Donnie Yen, Leon Lai, Tony Leung, Ka Fai and Nicholas Tse. It tells a story of how good guys protected Sun Yat-sen from assassination attempts by the Qing government.

The only shining points of the movie were the fighting sequences that Hong Kong filmmakers are so good at. The rest of it amounts to little. Most of the characters are paper-thin and easy to forget. Worse, there are many obvious loopholes in the storyline. Nevertheless, the movie did pretty well at the box office. Its ticket sales have grossed 293 million yuan (US$43 million).
