Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, topped the 2016 China Foodie Happiness Index released by Meituan-Dianping Data Research Institute.

Nanjing has the highest score due to its excellent performance on offering foodies a more relaxed dining environment and reasonable prices.

The data considered seven criteria for dining out in different cities, including public praise, dining demand, wait times and taste.

Other big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are also famous for offering great restaurants and dining environments. However, the time cost was higher than other cities.

Let's take a look at the top 10 cities for foodies:

Happiness index for foodies:93.6

Shenyang is known for its long history and abundant ethnic group culture. The Man-Han Banquet is a feast most representative of traditional dishes in Shenyang. Because of its unique cultural history, many unique and exquisite snacks originated here, such as Muslim and Manchu snacks.
