Under the Gongbei Mountain, one of the rolling peaks of Mount Emei, Jiulongping’s breathtaking views remain lesser-known to most tourists.

At 1,600 meters above sea level, the place is covered by forests and strewn with waterfalls, ponds and streams. Exotic plants thrive here. Monks of the Jiulong Temple keep bees to produce delicious honey by taking advantage of the rich variety of plant species.

Characteristic of western Sichuan style of residential buildings, the temple was first built in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and reconstructed in 2010. To the left of the temple, a serene valley holds the beautiful Jiulong Pond. The gurgling of the water can be heard at the temple gate.
