A glacier is a perennial mass of ice which moves over land. A glacier forms in locations where the mass accumulation of snow and ice exceeds ablation over many years.

Starting from 2006, the event aims to promote ancient Chinese villages and raise public awareness on preservation of the natural and cultural aspects of these villages.
