On September 29, Qingdao held a sci-tech award conference. The top award went to Liang Jianying, a female scientist dedicated to the development of high-speed trains.

Born in 1972, Liang now serves as the vice general manager and chief engineer of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd.

During her 22 years at work, Liang has been put in charge of 10 plus national-level key programs, which resulted in national-level innovative achievements.

In 2007, she led the development of CRH2A and CRH2E which can run at 200-250 KPH. By overcoming a number of technological difficulties, her team helped improve the smoothness and comfort of rides on those trains and fill a technological gap in the world.

In 2008, she was the chief designer of CRH380A trains which have a top operation speed of 380 KPH. The trains represented the state-of-the-art in the world at that time.

In 2010, she was responsible for the development of CRH380AM trains which can run faster with a top lab speed of 605 KPH.

In 2011-2014, she was in charge of the development of trains using its own permanent magnet traction system, a work which led the world in the upgrading of traction technologies for high-speed trains.

In 2015, CR400AF trains, whose development was led by Liang, achieved interconnectivity and interchange of components among various platforms. The trains are set to become the main force of China’s next-generation fleet with all of its technological indicators reaching globally advanced levels.
