The city of Shanghai recently built a 1.8-kilometer-long "Olympic corridor" along its famous Bund to mark the approach of the 2008 Olympic Games next August in Beijing.

The corridor features posters with facts and figures about the Olympics and 2,008 photographs taken by local residents with various occupations.

Shanghai's Bund, which runs four kilometers along the Huangpu River, is a must-visit place for tourists. The most picturesque sight is the "museum of international architecture" -- an assembly of buildings in different European styles that serves as a reminder of the city's colonial era from the late nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century.
