China and India have seen many educational exchanges in recent years, and it will be better if more scholarship and cooperation projects are open to Indian students, said an Indian student at the India-China Development Forum in Beijing on Tuesday.

A student at Renmin University of China for the past three years, Vikash Qumar Singh was invited to the forum marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Indian diplomatic relations as a representative of Indian students in China.

Singh said he hoped more projects in international relations, arts, history and geography could open to Indian students to help increase cultural exchanges and mutual understanding. Currently, most scholarships for Indian students go to scientific fields such as engineering and medicine.

He said many Indians have begun learning the Chinese language in recent years because they realized it could help them find a job in Chinese or Indian companies in either countries.

Singh will graduate this year and plans to find a job and stay in Beijing. "I love life here," he said. "Moreover, working here will help me not forget the Chinese language."

With the theme "India and China: Building the Future Together," the forum aimed to encourage better development of bilateral ties and discussed ways to enhance mutual understanding.

The forum was sponsored by China International Publishing Group and organized by China Internet Information Center and China Development Gateway under the guidance of China’s State Council Information Office.
