Furthering the positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship is more important than ever before, as the world is still facing an uncertain economic recovery and various prominent challenges, Hu said during a meeting with two senior U.S. officials.

"China and the U.S. should make unremitting efforts to enhance dialogue and cooperation, increase common interests, and properly handle problems that emerge in bilateral ties," Hu told Lawrence Summers, the head of U.S. President Barack Obama's National Economic Council, and Deputy National Security Adviser Tom Donilon.

The U.S. guests said President Obama values relations with China and committed to promoting the positive, cooperative and comprehensive U.S.-China relations.

They said the U.S. and China are influential countries and that their cooperation is in both their interests and is conducive to global stability and prosperity.

The U.S. hopes to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with China while handling disputes with the pragmatic attitude, so as to promote new progress in U.S.-China relations, they said.
