Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Ali Babacan in Beijing on Friday, vowing to boost bilateral ties between the two nations.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said that China and Turkey currently have great opportunities for the further growth of their relationship.

"We are ready to enhance coordination with Turkey and implement consensuses reached by both sides, as well as move our relations up to a new level," he said.

Li hailed the achievements of China-Turkey relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties, citing frequent high-level visits and enhanced cooperation in economic, political and cultural fields, as well as consolidated understanding and friendship among the people of both countries.

The two countries have maintained close coordination in global affairs, and made positive contributions to world and regional peace and stability, he added.

Li also praised the positive role of bilateral party-to-party exchanges in promoting country-to-country relations.

Babacan praised the rapid growth of bilateral ties, adding that both countries have carried out fruitful cooperation in the areas of economics, culture, tourism, infrastructure building and aviation.

"These cooperative efforts have shown huge development potential," he said, adding that his government speaks highly of the two countries' accomplishments and will continue to cement their bilateral strategic partnership.

Babacan also reiterated the Turkish government's adherence to the one-China policy and its respect for China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
