KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will strengthen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in a number of sectors as bilateral relations between the two countries continue to improve, according to a joint statement issued on Wednesday.
The two sides signed a series of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and exchange of notes (EoN) during the two-day official visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Malaysia. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim joined the Kyrgyz leader in witnessing the signing of agreements in a ceremony in the administrative capital of Putrajaya, the statement said.
Among the key sectors are tourism, healthcare, higher education, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.
Meanwhile, at a press conference following the ceremony, Japarov also urged Malaysian investors to consider investing in the Central Asian country's energy projects, as 90 percent of its electricity is generated by hydropower, offering vast potential for sustainable and strategic green energy cooperation.
