KABUL, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The counter-narcotics police have discovered a drug lab and arrested 14 individuals on charges of involvement in the drug business in southern Afghanistan's Uruzgan province, provincial police spokesman Bilal Uruzgani said Thursday.
During a series of operations in Dehrawad and Chori districts, police discovered a drug lab and a huge quantity of the objects used in manufacturing illegal drugs and burned them on the spot, the official said without providing more details.
Police have also taken into custody 14 individuals for involvement in the illegal drug business, the official added, saying the arrested persons would be referred to the judiciary after investigations.
In the drive against illicit drugs, police earlier reported the arrest of 11 alleged drug smugglers and the discovery of illegal drugs, including heroin, in Laghman, Khost, Baghlan, Kunar, and Faryab provinces a couple of days ago. Enditem
