The Expert Seminar of the 15th Western China International Fair (WCIF) was held in Chengdu on April 21, 2014, collecting wide-ranging views and suggestions on how to hold the 15th WCIF.

Wu Xiankui, Deputy Director of the fair's executive committee and Deputy Secretary-General of the Sichuan provincial government attended the seminar and delivered a speech. More than 30 representatives took part in the seminar, including officials from the provincial policy research office, the provincial Development and Reform Commission, Sichuan Economic and Information Technology Commission, the provincial Science and Technology Department, the provincial Investment Promotion Bureau, the provincial Trade Promotion, Chengdu Expo Bureau and experts or scholars from the provincial Academy of Social Sciences, the provincial Institute of Economic Development, Sichuan University and Sichuan Normal University.

All the participants offered advice on the theme settings, the activity design, exhibition arrangements, pavilions and promotion of the 15th WCIF. It was agreed that the 15th Western China International Fair and the Seventh Western China International Cooperation Forum could set the themes on the reform and innovation, transformation and upgrading, the Silk Road, and so forth. New media should be adopted to help promote the fair inside and outside China. The fair should give prominence to competitive industries, set up more professional exhibitions and strengthen the exhibition management. Concerning the activity design, it must have a clear theme, achieving effectiveness and avoiding formalism. In particular, France is the guest of honor to the fair. A series of activities must be well planned and implemented. The Chinese elements together with the French elements will be a feast for the eyes in the fair.
