Made-in-China organic farm products are found in the West China International Fair (WCIF) for the first time as the second phase of WCIF opened in the southwest city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Oct. 30, 2014.

In the Agriculture Pavilion, produces from 13 organic plantations – both within and outside Sichuan Province, are presented. The range of produce includes fruit, tea, vegetables, edible fungi and medicinal herbs.

The WCIF has set up the Theme Pavilion, Sichuan Pavilion and Pavilion of other Provinces, which in all took up 1,450 square meters, for the exhibition of Chinese organic produces.

Theme Pavilion exhibits the development of organic farming in China, including the introduction, certification and progress of organic produces, while the Sichuan Pavilion and the Pavilion of other Provinces showcases organic products of different places.

"Twenty provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China have in total unveiled 103 policies to support organic farming since 2000," said Wang Daning, vice director of Certification and Accreditation of China.

In 2013, the farmland that met organic farming standard reached 2.72 million hectares, and organic products grown in the same year reached 7.66 million tons, worth 81.6 billion yuan (US$13.29 billion). A preliminary estimation shows that annual sales of organic products in China would total 20-30 billion yuan (US$3.25-4.88 billion), accounting for 0.29-0.44 percent in China's food market.

Organic products on display at this year's WCIF received positive reviews from consumers, who tended to seek a more healthy way of life.
