Certificates which demonstrate a candidate' experience of working on certain projects and publishing quality papers indexed by EI or SCI will be of great help for postgraduate students who are seeking related positions in a company. In addition, when applying for further studies abroad, undergraduates or postgraduates with such credentials may attract the attention of foreign professors.

Patent certificates will also give you extra points in job-hunting activities, and sometimes, help you to gain the crucial hukou (registered permanent residence) in some big cities. Generally speaking, patents in China fall into three categories: invention, utility and design. It's very difficult for applicants to land an invention patent. However, certificates for utility and design are somewhat easier to obtain.
