Beijing Foreign Studies University

The predecessor of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) was Yan'an Foreign Languages School, which emerged from the Russian Language Section of the 3rd Branch of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political College which was founded in 1941. BFSU is the oldest foreign language university in China and also offers more foreign language programs than any other university in China. It has 49 language courses, including 15 that are the only ones in the country, and 62 majors, including literature, law, economics, management and information systems. It serves as a national center for teaching and research on foreign languages, foreign literature and international studies, and as a major training center for foreign language professionals, especially senior interpreters and translators. BFSU has enrolled nearly 10,000 foreign students from all over the world, and now enrolls 2,000 every year.

北京外國語大學的前身是延安外國語學校，其由1941年成立于延安的中國抗日軍政大學三分校俄文大隊發(fā)展而來。作為一所全國重點大學，北京外國語大學是目前我國高等院校中歷史最悠久、教授語種最多的外國語大學。學校開設共計49種外國語課程，其中15種語言是國家唯一學科點。開設專業(yè)62個，覆蓋文學、法學、經(jīng)濟學、管理學和信息學五個學科。它是外語、外國文學、國際問題的教學和研究中心，也是為外語專家特別是高級口譯和筆譯人才提供的培訓中心。學校已招收來自歐美、日本、韓國等國家和地區(qū)的外國留學生近萬名，每年在校各類留學生總人數(shù)達2000余人。
