Wang Lili graduated from Nankai University and received her MBA in International Finance from the University of Birmingham, UK. Wang joined the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in November 2000 and has served as senior executive vice president since October 2005. In April 2010, she was promoted to executive director of the bank.

As a result of her contribution, ICBC has developed rapidly in recent years and become the world's largest bank by market value. In 2010, the bank's turnover was 545 billion yuan (US$85.78 billion), and t net profits stood at 166.02 billion yuan (US$26.13 billion). By the first half of the year, the company's after-tax profits had reached 109.6 billion yuan (US$17.25 billion), rising 29 percent year-on-year.
